Class: 3/1. Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius Intro

Write the story of an important event in your life.

now, review what you wrote. Think about this: What is the difference between what you wrote down, and "you" as a person? What's the difference between the writing and YOU?

If someone who didn't know you read this piece of writing, how might their perception of you be different than who you actually are?

Are there any facts you have embellished? Would the story be better if there were? What could you do to make this a better story?

Have you done anything in your story that makes you more (or less) likable?

Is the story more true if you stick to the facts of what happened, or, is it more true if you alter the facts to better portray the story's meaning, or your feelings about it?

What is the difference between reality and Reality Television?

What does it mean to think of Reality TV as being "real"?

As a viewer, or a reader, what is the value of being told something is "real" or that something ACTUALLY HAPPENED?
